This Privacy Policy explains how the Mochi mobile application ("Mochi", "the app", "we", "us") handles your information. Mochi is developed and operated by Coders Atelier. By using Mochi, you agree to the practices described here.
Mochi does not collect, store on remote servers, or transmit any of the following:
Mochi has no user accounts and requires no sign-up. Because reminders are on by default, a random identifier created when the app was installed is sent to our server; it is not derived from your device or from anything about you. See section 4.
When you use Mochi, you may create emotion entries, tap sessions, notes, and reminder preferences. This information is:
Because this data never leaves your device, we have no access to it and cannot recover it if you delete the app.

Notification text is always produced locally. No notification content is sent to or processed by an external service, including when reminders are delivered by push.
Mochi reminds you to check in, and reminders are on by default. A new installation registers your device with our server on first launch, without you having to turn anything on. Where push notifications work — on Android, in builds configured for it — the reminder is then delivered from a server we operate. Where they do not, the app schedules local alarms on your device instead and nothing is transmitted. Which of the two is used is an implementation detail; it is not a choice you make.
If you do not want your device registered, open Reminders in the app and turn off Notifications. That deletes the registration from our server (see below).
The push message we send is data-only. It carries just three fields —
type, locale and fireAt — and no text whatsoever. The wording of the
reminder is picked by the app on your phone. The server knows when to wake your phone; it never knows
what the reminder says or why.
Your emotions, notes, tags, sessions and streaks stay in the local database on your phone and are never transmitted, whether reminders are on or off. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no advertising identifier.
The server runs on Amazon Web Services under a Coders Atelier account. Delivery of the notification passes through Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) and Amazon SNS (AWS), which act as processors on our behalf.
Turning off Notifications in Reminders deletes your registration from the server immediately: the device record, any pending reminders, and the delivery endpoint. That is the only step. Registrations also expire on their own after 180 days without activity. Step-by-step instructions are on our data deletion page.

Mochi does not integrate any third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs. The app uses open-source libraries (for the interface, local storage, charts, and fonts) that operate on-device. Fonts may be bundled with the app and do not transmit personal data.
The only third parties that ever receive data are Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) and Amazon SNS (AWS), and only to deliver reminders, and only for the data described in section 4.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information, and we do not disclose it for advertising or any purpose unrelated to running the app. The only data that ever leaves your device is described in section 4, and it goes solely to the providers that deliver the notification, acting as processors for us.
Mochi does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Everything you record stays on the device, and the only transmission (section 4) carries no name, no contact details, and none of the content you write. If Mochi is intended for or used by children, parents and guardians can turn off Notifications in Reminders and fully remove all stored data by deleting the app.
Your data is protected by your device's own security mechanisms (such as screen lock and OS-level sandboxing). Your entries are never transmitted. The limited data used to deliver reminders (section 4) is encrypted in transit.
You are in full control of your data. You can edit or delete entries within the app at any time, and you can permanently erase all data by uninstalling Mochi or clearing its storage from your device settings. Reminders are on by default, and you can turn them off whenever you want in Reminders → Notifications; turning them off deletes your registration from our server, as described in section 4.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of Mochi after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
